I teach high school aged students who are identified as being Intellectually Disabled or within the more severe end of the Autistic Spectrum. They receive differentiated instruction in academic subjects, daily living, and career skills. We also have Community Based Instruction both on and off campus during which they practice their job and independent functioning skills.I was previously a media specialist for eight years. At a middle school, in addition to regular library duties, I encouraged every teacher bring their classes in at least weekly I. collaborated with staff to teach research and reference skills where. At the elementary school, I was assigned media classes back-to-back all day. I taught the students everything from how to correctly turn pages through how to find books and how to perform research (books, newspapers, magazines, Internet, etc.) to how create PowerPoint presentations. Some classes even created iMovie Public Service Announcements (PSAs). I voluntarily opened the media center before and after school so students would have more access to the plethora of materials available. I also coordinated Distance Learning activities. maintained the school's website. At both schools, I created and maintained the school's website.

I began working as a substitute teacher.Miami Southridge (SR) High School hired me to teach Mathematics and Math, English, Science, Health, etc.to ESE students.In 1992, we had a little storm called Andrew, I spent that school year teaching self-contained emotionally handicapped students at Deland High School in Volusia County, Florida . In 1994,I returned south and taught mathematics and computers at Nova High School in Broward County. While teaching night school at Miami-SR Adult Education Center. At the end of the school year, they had a reduction in staff and I ended up securing employment back in Miami-Dade.In 1994, I began working with self-contained emotionally handicapped Kindergarten through third grade students at Benjamin Franklin Elementary. I was responsible for teaching them all of their academic subjects. After three years, I taught reading, English, writing, spelling, and mathematics to Kindergarten through fifth grade varying exceptionalities students. I was also in charge of the Child Study Team.For a total of ten years, I also taught high school students and adults at Miami SR and American High/Adult Education Centers beginning when I was working originally at SR High and continuing when returned from Volusia County. During this time I worked with students learning English and those working toward their GED which included teaching them how to use computers and specialized software.. I also taught general mathematics through Algebra 2 to high school students. I also worked at Southridge's outreach centers teaching GED and computers during the day in the summers.In 2000, I began working as a Library Media Specialist at Westview Middle School. The school was ranked as a "D" and the media center had very poor circulation. I voluntarily opened the media center before and after school. I scheduled classes for book check out, research, and computer use.
