Debra Thomas has been involved with horses her entire life. As a child she found solace from abuse in the company of these amazing four legged healers. Always a source of freedom and comfort for her, she progressed to riding and showing in a variety of disciplines. As the Barn Manager of the largest horse rescue in Colorado, she spent years rescuing, rehabbing, and finding new forever homes for horses of neglect, trauma, and starvation. During that time at the rescue, she created Horses Mending Hearts by combining her two passions in life, horses and facilitating empowerment programs.Debra is also an Advanced Certified Self Defense Instructor in the Award Winning FAST Defense program, specializing in helping women, men, and children overcome trauma. Debra has conducted Safety and Empowerment seminars for people of all ages around the world. This program combines assertive communication, setting clear boundaries, and learning to re-trust one’s intuition. Her passion in life is to empower people to feel safe and overcome their perceived self-limitations. Through her Horses Mending Hearts program, she takes great joy in helping people to take charge of their lives and become extraordinary.
