About Debra Barton Grant
I am an authentic, highly effective, inspirational, and emotionally intelligent leader who has dedicated her professional career to building, engaging, and strengthening the Jewish community here in North America, in Israel, and around the world. Recognized nationally and internationally with over 25 years of professional experience leading Jewish Federations and its partner organizations, along with my life-long career fundraising, managing, supervising, and implementing programs for children, teens, and adults that instill Jewish values, I am inspired by the many opportunities throughout our Jewish communal field that fuels my unwavering passion for serving and engaging the Jewish community. As Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis, I had the opportunity to be a dynamic partner and visionary leader with our volunteers, while building our highly successful professional team. Together, we engaged with the Indianapolis Jewish community unlike before and have achieved exceptional philanthropic results. Through a collaborative strategic plan and the creation of the first Jewish Community Study in 80 years, our team was able to engage more Jewish community members and create an elevated organizational structure for our team. Some of our most successful initiatives include: increasing the Annual Campaign from $3.7 million in 2013 to $4.3 million in 2020, securing new donors year over year, raising an additional $850,000 in 2020 during the COVID pandemic, enabling agencies, community members in need and JFGI departments to pivot and meet our community’s increased needs, and successfully manage the 40+ acre Simon Jewish Community Campus. My experience from living in the U.S. and in Israel, as well as my education in Jewish Communal Leadership and Judaic Studies, inspires me every day to bring proactive solutions, creative program retention initiatives, new fundraising opportunities into my professional and volunteer work alongside thousands of families I have been personally connected to throughout my career. On a more personal level, my intentions are to bring awareness, inspiration, and a sense of strong belonging to the Jewish community. I look forward to working hand in hand with professionals and volunteer leaders to lift the community and install new programs to strengthen Jewish values and create new fundraising initiatives.
