Debra Baker is a journalist turned lawyer focused on helping law firms and professional services firms innovate in the way they create, deliver and communicate value to clients. As a Managing Director of GrowthPlay, she works with law firms and professional services providers to optimize their growth engines through a combination of strategic growth planning, collaborative selling programs, and individual coaching and training. She also heads GrowthPlay's Innovation and R&D efforts. Prior to joining Growth Play, she founded Law Leaders Lab, a law firm strategy consultancy built out of her belief that the traditional model for delivering legal services no longer meets the best interests of clients and must change for lawyers to be successful in the current business climate. With more than 20 years of experience working throughout the legal industry, Debra is committed to transforming the legal profession by helping clients understand what drives the need for legal services and how better to respond to the needs of their target client base. Debra is a licensed attorney whose background includes firm-wide marketing and business development positions for both a Global law firm and a pioneering legal technology company. Prior to these positions, she was an award-winning journalist for the ABA Journal, where she covered law firm management, corporate legal departments, and ethics. Her unique blend of journalism, legal and client development experience helps her analyze issues, distill complex ideas, and deliver key messages in clear and compelling ways.
