I have always been pretty healthy and have managed to keep my high school weight of 126 through babies, a high-stress job at Edward Jones Investments, life’s troubles, bouts of depression, loss of a spouse and son plus everything else that was thrown at me.That is until...A “simple” annual physical in 2017 turned out not to be so simple. Following some tests, I heard the dreaded “C” word. Suddenly life seemed so short. I was alone, as I had lost my husband and my son lived five hours away. Depression set in as I was preparing to go through a major surgery to remove the cancer.Following surgery and recovery, I returned to work, but I began to struggle with severe depression. Was this really all that life had to offer? When I got this diagnosis, I suddenly really started thinking about my life. Work, go home, work, go home. I put on a “fake smile” for my clients every day and served them well, but it was the SAME STUFF, DIFFERENT DAY.For the first time in my life, my weight soared. The more I gained, the worse I felt, the less energy I had to do anything, and the more depressed I became. I was angry, and no longer had an interest in anything. Vicious cycle with no end.I tried EVERYTHING to lose the weight and get my mental mojo back. Dieting, starving, crash diets, flush diets, exercise was difficult due to the surgery, ol’ Arthur and fibromyalgia, OTC supplements for mood and energy +++In 2020, I was scrolling through a social media page.
