Part of the two-person team that developed and implemented all aspects of UQ’s highly successful Women in Engineering Program. University-led and industry-funded, the program aims to achieve 30% female enrolment in engineering courses by 2023.Key achievements • Updated the program’s presence on key media and communications platforms. This included a new website layout and copy and driving more traffic to the Facebook page. The number of people following the Facebook page increased by 40% in 2016 and posts were seen in News Feeds more than 107,000 times.• Introduced Vision 6 email communication to promote events and activities to prospective students, teachers and parents. In 2016, the open rate of emails averaged 48.75% and the click-through rate averaged 17%, compared to 21.95% and 2.75% respectively for the education sector.• On-campus events to promote engineering to female high school students were near capacity with 190 students attending an all-day event and 215 students and parents attending an evening event.• Secured an additional Program Partner to enable the program to reach regional students. Developed a two-day engineering event for regional students with 75 students attending in its first year. • Secured additional funding to coordinate and host a two-day workshop that aimed to encourage collaboration between 18 universities to promote engineering to females. • Regular engagement with teachers, students and parents to promote engineering and UQ, including direct engagement with 1,700 high school students during 2016.
