Words take us to infinity and beyond... When I was six years old, my teacher told my mum I couldn't read. Mum questioned me, and I explained that I read much faster than everyone else, so I was always skimming ahead of the class to read what came next. When it was my turn to read aloud, I never knew what page we were on!By the time I was 12 years old, I had read all the books in the Children's Section of the local library. My mum requested an adult library card for me so I could access books from the adult section. With an adult library card in hand, a new world of words opened up for me.I have always loved books, and I love words. Words can transport a person to new worlds, new possibilities, and new opportunities, and to quote Buzz Lightyear of Toy Story, "To infinity and beyond!"25 years ago in 1998, I founded my business - 'Put It In Writing,' and found my true vocation. My words flowed everywhere, biographies, social media profiles, magazines, and newspapers. Obituaries for people I'd never met, and even 'Mother-of-the-Bride' speeches, policies and procedures, bylaws, and more. In 2016, I took on an assignment that gave me and my words a new purpose. A client asked me to develop a curriculum for a Leadership Academy. Part of that curriculum included a module for me to instruct the participants on how to write their bios. In 2020, an international business group hired me to present my bio class to its members. and then they asked me to develop a series to follow the successful and popular 'Bye, Bye, Boring Bio' class.'The Write Stuff Lab' was founded and launched in the midst of a pandemic when communication could not have been more important and vital.
