I am passionate about the transformative impact that mental health care can have on well-being for us as individuals and within our communities. I teach, research, and engage in mental health care that:-Is collaborative, anti-oppressive, creative, and radically empowering -Supports individuals, communities, and populations to evolve towards greater resilience and well-being -Centers the strengths of the people we work with-Is founded on compassion, creativity, and kindness-Uplifts LGBTQIA2S+, Black, Indigenous, Asian, Brown (BIPOC) and Disabled ways of knowing and being-Is Climate-Aware and grounded in an Active Hope ecological approachMy goal is to support individuals and communities to move towards greater mental health and well-being and to have confidence to create a life they want so that they can affect the change they want in the world. My experiences as a music therapist and improvising musician have affirmed my beliefs that we are most successful when we are in relationship with each other in a way that is grounded in the present moment, and open to creative possibilities.I developed my leadership skills co-founding and co-facilitating the Equity Advisory Council to the CAMT, serving on the health and well-being committee at McGill University, managing my private practice, and leading dynamic presentations at professional conferences, panels, and workshops. As a leader, I:-Listen deeply, to clients, students, and organizations, hearing beyond the words to the underlying content of the message.-Quickly perceive the strengths and abilities in others, and motivate others to see and leverage their own greatness.-Build genuine relationships through openness, vulnerability, and empathy. -Work with clarity, vision and energy.-Foster dynamic professional collaborations to achieve success
