About Dec Burns

My flair for problem solving and fascination for technology led me to begin self-teaching software development. I discovered a passion for programming while working on my own ecommerce startup, before making the decision to fast-track my learning at General Assembly with a full-stack immersive bootcamp.  I have been continuing my development through various roles in fast-paced startups with increasing seniority and responsibility, typically working as part of a team in an agile environment. I am consistently learning new skills and technologies working on projects for various clients, most recently in my current role as a senior developer at Moropo. I specialise in using technologies such as Typescript, React, React Native, Expo, MobX, Node/Deno, PostgreSQL, and Supabase - among others.

This project was my sole responsibility and required me to learn to use new technologies such as Gatsby, GraphQL, and Sanity. The project didn't have scope to rebuild the entire site, so I was responsible for designing a CI/CD workflow in Google Cloud Build to build and combine both the React and Gatsby portions of the site from seperate repositories and use webhooks to trigger a rebuild every time a new post was created in Sanity. My most significant client project was a rebrand of an eCommerce website. The work consisted of test driven front end develepment of a React application using Redux and and a pre-existing API. Work was assigned in the form of tickets delegated by the client's project manager, completed in line with acceptance criteria, and signed off by the client's QA team. Show less
