My role was acting as the Head of Sports Science for the senior NPL3 men's squad. After spending three previous seasons with the club in internship-type and youth sports science roles, I was formally offered the senior position for season 2021/2022. I attended all training sessions and gamedays. My duties included:- designing a six-week offseason running and gym-based program for players,- coordinating with medical staff in the management and rehabilitation of injured players- monitoring athlete injury history & occurrence,- conducting fitness testing in preseason,- designing & running warm-ups for training/games,- managing a GPS data base, providing regular reports to coaching staff,- using custom-written R code to develop weekly load summaries and "flagging" systems,- planning out long-term training session loads,- planning & conducting running-based conditioning,- prescribing rehabilitation programs & overall injury prevention programs,- monitoring player loads & overall wellbeing on gamedays.
