My day to day work consisted of working on the below with respect to Part 3 of the Building Code which deals with Life Safety, Fire Protection and Accessibility in buildings.• Reviewing drawings for Code Compliance prior to submission for Building Permit• Prepare Code Reports to assist design team in designing a code compliant building• Design and develop Alternative Solutions to deal with non conformities within the design• Develop Fire Safety Plans for various projects• Advise on General Code Consulting issues throughout the design stage• Review mechanisms required for new work to existing buildingI have provided code services for a wide range of projects throughout BC. This has led me to have good knowledge of the National Building Code, the British Columbia Building Code, the Vancouver Building By-Law, the associated Fire Codes and Standards.

• Do an original take off for intumescent paint to be applied to steel work, monitor progress on site, submit valuations for a number of jobs, engage with contractor QS to agree final accounts. Pay workers for work they have completed.• Attend work in progress site meetings to answer queries and report any difficulties with work to site management. Report progress to contracts manager.• Developed a vast understanding on the issues of fire proofing within various buildings.

• Re-measuring works on site adhering to SMM7 rules, putting rates with these measures to make payments for the sub contractor.• Liased with foreman in clearing timesheets.• Used drawings to do take offs for estimated costs and for the ordering of materials.• Attending site meetings.• Meeting with sub-contractor QS’s to agree payments.• Marking up drawings showing work completed which was used in progress reports.• Assisted my supervisor in making monthly valuations.
