Bluestar Energy Capital (‘Bluestar’ or ‘the Company’), is a new global renewable energy investment platform founded by Declan Flanagan, former CEO of Lincoln Clean Energy (sold to Orsted) and Airtricity North America (sold to E.On). A huge amount of capital is seeking a role in the energy transition, but a scarcity remains of the right kind of capital for new development platforms and new projects. Our vision is to be one of the largest global investors of early-stage development capital with an initial focus on scaling several regional platforms, either wholly owned or controlled subsidiaries.We have structured Bluestar as a portfolio of distinct regional platforms based on the conviction that successful project development is a very local business. Nova Clean Energy is the North American focused project development platform of Bluestar Energy Capital. Nova is assembling a world class team of energy professionals and is engaged in greenfield project development in a number of markets across North America.

Led the creation of Orsted onshore business unit, building upon the LCE platform. Oversaw gross investments of >USD5 billion in US and Europe across wind, solar and storage. Led entry into European onshore market via $680 million acquisition. Fast growing business unit generating >USD400 million run rate EBITDA with 5 GW of generation capacity in operation or construction and an announced ambition to reach 17.5 GW by 2030.

Grew from wind & solar develop/sell model to develop/own. Recapitalized with $200 million from management and I Squared Capital in 2016. Largest non-utility wind developer in US in 2017. Sold company to Orsted at $580 million valuation in August 2018.

Grew business into one of the Top 5 owners of windpower in the US. Board member of global renewables business for launch and major investment in European offshore wind, biomass and solar.

Relocated to the US in 2003 to establish Airtricity North America, a developer, owner and operator of wind power projects. Sold to E.ON in October 2007 for $1.4 billion, > 3x multiple on invested capital.
