Declan Kelly is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Consello and has over three decades of experience as a business advisor, leader and entrepreneur.Before Consello, Declan co-founded and was the Chairman and CEO of Teneo. Under Declan’s leadership, Teneo grew from a small start-up into a globally renowned advisory business, with over 30 offices around the world.Beginning in 2009, Declan worked in The Obama Administration as the U.S. Economic Envoy to Northern Ireland, appointed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. In this role he is recognized as having helped bring significant investment to the region and played a significant role in supporting the efforts that led to the historic devolution of policing and justice powers to the Northern Ireland Assembly, giving Northern Ireland fully devolved governance for the first time in its modern history.Before his role in government, Declan held various senior executive positions at a number of international consulting firms including FTI Consulting and Financial Dynamics. Prior to that, he was as an award-winning journalist.Declan has served on various nonprofit boards and has helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars for many important causes over the last two decades. Declan has been recognized on several occasions for his philanthropic and nonprofit work and his public service. In 2008, he was the youngest recipient of the American Irish Historical Society’s Gold Medal, presented to someone who has contributed uniquely to Irish American society. He was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2012 for his distinguished contributions to society in the United States. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He was awarded an Honorary Degree from Queen’s University, Belfast in recognition of his contribution to the community and economy of Northern Ireland. He also created the Northern Ireland Mentorship Program, which has enabled over 100 students to date the opportunity to spend one year working for leading U.S. companies before they return to begin their careers in Northern Ireland.
