Included handling of message framing across TCP packets, implementing transparently "nailed-up" connections, etc.Designed & Implemented a fully compliant RESTful web service using JSON over HTTP. Included handling of both network + software (internal) errors.Implemented a security library that provided on-the-fly software encryption/decryption for designated message fields.Designed & implemented an interface between the network application and a Hardware Security Module (HSM). Entailed socket connectivity, HSM configuration, and hardware-software integration.Held primary responsibility for overall application efficiency with periodic comparison of profiling results.Oversaw regulatory compliance for the whole project. Code Generation Engine:Developed from scratch, an in-house replacement for an industry-leading proprietary product for producing complex intranet applications. Involved database schema extraction, template expansion of inline code snippets, caching in memory + on disk, and migration of substantial production code base. Meshed seamlessly with native technology and worked flawlessly from day one.Test Harness:Developed a test harness with centralised (database) unit tests for diverse system components of complex intranet applications. Integrated scheduling & reporting into build system. Also included a new harness for front-end integration & regression testing of intranet via browser.Voice-Over-IP Monitoring System:Implemented a multi-site call center VOIP system by: integrating into an intranet application, providing configurable user roles & profiles for recording, activity monitoring via IP-packet level scanning, database logging of call data records + requested audio samples, and reports driven by SNMP. Involved integrating with legacy hardware API + undocumented database systems.Architecture, Leadership, Support:Participated in ongoing architectural design meetings. Interviewed, hired, trained, and supervised newcomer developers. Provided ongoing live customer support, responding to bug reports + feature requests, via remote monitoring, active debugging, customer liaising, and feature development.Music Technology:Developed interactive MIDI applications to facilitate both live performance and class workshops, all to customer specification.

Database Diffing Tool:Implemented from scratch to mesh with native technology and automation. Entailed schema extraction and constraint dependency analysis. Facilitated cherry-picking of changes. Included an optimisation that reduced post-diff workflow from 4½ hours to 14 seconds. (Most of the remaining time was due to an upstream bug in the SQL parser.)Build Rig:Recovered a neglected, dysfunctional prototype into a fully serviceable build system, expanding to include new applications, a test harness, and keeping pace with perpetual weekly developments. Included documentation, with installation distributed across various machines, of multiple web applications. Entailed automated compiling, packaging & installation for desktop client applications, database installation, application server turnup, browser login verification, and email of test results to dev. team.Desktop Application Plugin Interface:Maintained a suite of desktop applications as part of an integrated intranet application. Migrated IPC from pipes to TCP. Supported dynamic loading of plugins via reflection. Desktop server offered database connectivity to plugin clients.Introduced Authentication to Intranet Lower Tiers:Enhanced security of all supported web apps by extending user login to cover access to the intermediate + lower layers involving database access, thereby guarding against hacking. Involved preventing reverse engineering by a degree of obfuscation, carefully securing user authentication by means of cryptography, and doing so in way that worked seamlessly with all components of a complex intranet application and that allowed for future licensing options.Invoice Generation Server:Maintained a dedicated invoice generation system for a remote customer. Detected PHP injection due to an upstream security issue. Revised & documented scripts. Monitored operation.On-call Support:Provided ongoing customer support, responding to bug reports + feature requests.
