Java Team LeadAer Lingus Jan 2019 - Oct 2021Dublin, IeWorking in the Digital & Mobile department of Aer Lingus, my role as team lead encompasses a wide variety of responsibilities in a busy and challenging environment. Our team develops and maintains the backend services for aerlingus.com, Android & iOS mobile apps, B2B and integration with numerous 3rd parties.I lead a team of developers, tech leads and automation engineers (onshore and offshore). While remaining close to the code and often assist with a bug fix or code review I don't get to spend too much time coding. My focus is the performance and well-being of the team, ensuring they can focus on delivery and so need to be available to help and unblock with whatever issue might arise. Ensuring standards are maintained, reducing technical debt and helping to drive key initiatives in digital transformation space is another important aspect of my role. There is a sizeable portion of the code developed on legacy technologies. The planning and execution to migrate the legacy services to Spring Boot on AWS has been a high priority for me since joining the team. -

Senior Software EngineerAmdocs Aug 2006 - Apr 2009Chesterfield, Mo, UsAmdocs have a huge platform in the Telco space. I worked mainly on a the Accounts Receivable module. The process in Amdocs was fairly well settled when I joined. During the latter part of my time there we transitioned to Agile. That was a valuable learning experience. High calibre of developers on the team working to build new functionality and improve the codebase. Tech stack was Java backend for web and complex multithreaded batch jobs for high volume payment processes. Learned a lot about Oracle and Weblogic during my time.Finished in Amdocs when the development operation in Eastpoint were made redundant after buyout of Changing Worlds. -
Software EngineerMarrakech 2005 - 2006UsThanks to some great mentors I quickly got to grips with many parts of the development lifecycle.I was fixing bugs and developing new functionality after a few weeks. The product was an eProcurement platform used by clients such as Tesco and UK Passport servce. All web based and tech stack was Java using various frameworks such as Struts. Apps deployed on Weblogic all feeding into a sizeable Oracle database. Perforce was the SCM of choice with Maven and Ant the build tools.I could write all day about my time at this company and it was only a year.
