We are all probably aware of the acute shortage of skilled personnel within the construction industry, so back in 2011 we decided to do something about it.Cadcoe was formed to address the skills shortage faced by engineering design offices up and down the country. Our aim was to try and address this shortage by training, developing and mentoring the next generation. Our programme was developed with the employer in mind. The traditional day release programme -with little or no training wasn’t a delivery option that we thought was suitable for our industry. We couldn’t simply see how this would work in a typical design office. We therefore have focused on a front loaded programme whereby learners are taught the key fundamentals of the role before they commence work – but as soon as they do, they are able to contribute.This training replicates a typical design office, with information from architects, engineers or clients and this is used to complete drawings / models in order for manufacture.
