Donna E. Coghill is an EDIA Consultant -- Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility-- utilizing her EDIA Certifications as well as her background in EDIA work at Virginia Commonwealth University. Donna assists organizations in creating a safer and more equitable work environment. For the university and the Richmond community, Donna has been an active voice for equality, diversity, and change. She participated in the development of the university’s diversity plan, served on the VCU Alumni Board of Directors, was chair and charter member of Single Volunteers of Richmond, and was s a member of the Family Lifeline Youth Advisory Board. Before leaving the university, Donna was a VCU Green Zone volunteer, and a facilitator for the VCU Safe Zone program. Donna is on the advisory board of Cultures of Consent, manages two VCU scholarship committees, and is on the VCU Police Departments LGBTQ Safety Advisory Group.Additionally, Donna has been an active member of Equality VCU, the LGBTQIA collaborative, advocacy, and advisory body. Donna was honoured to receive the 2012 VCU Burnside-Watstein LGBTQIA Award.As a Theatre Professional, Donna has an extensive background as an educator and artist. Donna has designed and taught teacher workshops incorporating the arts into the core curriculum. She has also taught workshops to K-12 and college students; developed educational materials to align with productions; and has worked as a consultant, artist and educator with many Central Virginia arts and cultural organizations. Her theatre artist resume includes acting, directing and dialect coaching.Until summer 2022, Donna was the VCU Libraries Community Engagement Librarian, ahe focused her library skills in education, instruction, and outreach. As the Community Engagement Librarian, Donna was the liaison to VCU’s Division of Community Engagement and the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management, as well as high schools and non-VCU researchers in need of access to collections and services.Donna holds an MFA in Theatre with a pedagogy and directing emphasis and a BFA in theatre administration, both from VCU. She also holds EDIA Certifications from eCornell and the University of South Florida.

Director Of EducationTheatre Iv & Barksdale Theatre 1998 - 2002Maintained the educational integrity of a national theatre arts organization (Theatre IV) and a professional theatre in central Virginia (Barksdale), overseeing details including cast training, research, new play development, workshops, seminars, researching curriculum ties to each play, extensive dramaturgical research, and educational guides for K-12 students, teachers and the theatre-attending public. Facilitated Theatre IV’s partnership with the Kennedy Center Partners in Education program, supervising teacher workshops using the arts to teach across the core curriculum.
