On leaving the acute healthcare sector I still wanted to keep my skills up so applied for a Nurse advisor with the Emergency Out of Hours care service. Concurrently with my current role I work as a nurse advisor. At the weekend I triage patients requiring Out of Hours healthcare. Recently I opted for a Nurse Phone advisor rather than face to face.

The role of the area manager is to support, guide and manage the service managers. To ensure that they are compliant to CQC and regulatory standards. Supervising the managers and supporting the managers to supervise their staff. Manager’s recruitment and Induction. Ensuring that standards are maintained and raised in all aspects of care delivery. Promoting.

I was the registered home manager for two services, this involved day to day running of the home, staffing: recruitment, induction and training. Working toward raising standards. The implementation of MCA including DoLS 2008, PCP and implementation of the Health Action Plan’s, Risk assessments guidelines. Implementation of Caretech P&P. Promoting.

My role as the Deputy manager was primarily to support the manager and to deputise in her absence. This home was a nursing home for adults with profound LD with physical disabilities. We worked in closely with the local PCT and CLDT. The home catered for adults of all ages requiring nursing and palliative care. Within my role I was responsible to rota.

In this role I worked closely with the 3 Area mangers and Quality performance team across the southern region, working in homes that were struggling. Working through set action plans in raising standards. Reporting monthly to the Area manager and Operations manager. Hearing Investigation and disciplinary issues, holding Whistle blowing exercises..
