Background: For 14 years I worked as a Volunteering Development Co-ordinator for a top London university where over the years, amongst other tasks, I managed teams of paid student photographers and videographers instrumental in promoting the successful community work done by over 10,000+ university student volunteers. I also managed 220+ groups of student volunteer project leaders in planning and running community projects from children’s medical awareness projects to creating innovative inventions to assist people with disabilities in navigating their way through daily life with greater ease. Over 14 years, I gained additional experience as a management committee member and trustee of a US-UK community volunteer exchange programme, involved in many projects including producing a display for the 50 years anniversary of the organisation. Other roles: Over the years I have also had other roles ranging from: being an administrator to working as a carers and older people’s events organiser, play librarian, teacher of English as a foreign language and foundation English to being CEO of a single people’s board game events business. Currently I am employed as a Library Services Assistant. In relation to the world of specific learning differences (SpLD) or neurodivergence (ND): I am a regular participant in the Waltham Forest Dyslexia Association (WFDA) monthly meetings and NextStep course and an avid service user of Exceptional Individuals a neurodivergent consultative, training and employment enterprise. Last of all, I am creator of the WhatsApp Black ND Females group bringing dyslexic, dyspraxic and other NDs together for friendly chat and support.
