Have held 2 Director positions at Borgess Health. From 2009-2013, I was the department director for the Surgical Sub-Specialties unit where I led a diverse group of nurses, patient care assistants and clerical personnel to operate a 46 bed inpatient unit. The population of patients on that unit included post open heart surgery patients, post neuro-surgery patients and post vascular surgery patients as well as other medical and surgical patients. I had 24 hour accountability for staffing, payroll, patient care, quality monitoring, mentorship, and all operations.From 1998-2004 I was the Emergency and Trauma Department director and held 24 hour accountability for that diverse patient and staff population. In both positions at Borgess, I led several initiatives to improve patient care and quality.

Greater Detroit Area

As Director for Henry Ford Macomb Hospital Emergency Services, I had 24 hour accountability for the operations of the Emergency department as well as the Clinical Decision Unit. Most notably, I was responsible for obtaining Chest Pain Accreditation, developing a code stemi team that improved door to balloon time to under 60 minutes, and for developing relationships with EMS which included the EMS community as team members in achieving our Code Stemi and Chest Pain Center Accreditation goals. We also develped a Code Stroke team patterned after our Code Stemi team. All of these initiatives were implemented through teamwork and team building both within our hospital and within our community. Our Code Stemi Team won the Henry Ford Quality Award in 2006.
