About Dee Jay Mailer

It is a rare opportunity to return to my homeland and join an incredible organization like the Bishop Museum as its CEO. Hawai'i's State Museum, the Bishop Museum is widely known as the world's premier institution for Hawaiian and Pacific collections of cultural and natural science treasures, with over 200,000 visitors and 20,000 children on school visits each year. As an accomplished executive with over 20 years of leading highly successful organizations in Hawai’i, the U.S. continent and Geneva, Switzerland in the fields of education, health and trust and estate management, I have led professional organizations through start-up, turnaround, stabilization and growth. In 2014, I retired as CEO of the Kamehameha Schools/Bishop Estate after 10 years of executive leadership of this highly complex and diversified business and educational pillar in the State of Hawai’i. I have returned to Hawai'i in 2023 to serve another critical legacy organization, the Bishop Museum. An experienced Board Director, I have held seats on for-profit and non-profit Boards spanning healthcare, banking, education, trust management, land management and public media. The rest of my time I devote to my husband, family and 5 grandchildren that shape our future. The Mailers are truly blessed.
