Since joining DOMMRS I have become involved in a number of EU FP7 projects, particularly those with a space focus: ASIMUTH, SAFI, and OSS2015, I am also involved in the IMTA project IDREEM and I assist in research on Amoebic Gill Disease in salmonids .

I am currently working at the Coastal and Marine Research Centre (CMRC) in Cork, where I was awarded an internship to progress research initiated under my Masters thesis into a full peer reviewed publication. In addition, my role at the CMRC is to instigate interdisciplinary collaboration between remote sensing and ecology fields; this entails my involvement in a diverse range of projects, requiring efficient time management and the achievement of an immediate understanding of new areas of research. To date I:1. Participated in fieldwork for a PhD study on the diet of seals in Ireland2. Created a time series animation in ArcGIS of tagged shark movements for a national TV series: “Living the Wildlife”3. Generated seal bycatch and depredation maps4. Reanalysed seabird data to explore correlations between satellite derived data and distinct seabird species distribution and writing a paper on this work.5. I am currently involved in the FP7 project MARLISCO – targeting social awareness of marine litter in Europe. As part of this work I am organising a European video contest for school kids in Ireland to collect their visions on the issue of marine litter and empower them as agents of change in society and conducting a survey on the prevailing perceptions and attitudes of different stakeholders regarding marine litter.6. Was involved in the organising and running the ESA conference recently held in Cork (April)7. Participated in a group facilitation course, which introduced the foundations of the Technology of Participation (ToP) approach.8. I participated in an 'R' statistics workshop in May.

I attained an MSc in GIS and Remote Sensing, in Sept. 2012. My thesis entitled: 'Birds eye view of oceanographic variables affecting seabird abundance and distribution' incorporated the use of satellite imagery and in-situ data to identify potential habitat hotspots for seabirds within the Irish Continental Shelf.

I worked on numerous projects throughout for four years, including:1) a year long review of literature relevant to the Population Consequence of Acoustic Disturbance (PCAD) model for guidance in developing transfer functions2) running a field season the western gulf of the infamous Shark Bay on the bottlenose dolphin study into alliance formation in male dolphins and foraging specialisations like ‘sponging’ and collection of biopsy samples using the PAXARMS biopsy system.
