In my capacity of DMM Consulting, I initially started as a volunteer for Cycle Against Suicide which was a new initiative to highlight the support available in Ireland for suicide prevention. As the momentum grew I took on the role of Operations Director full time for 6 months to set up the organisation and to run the event for year one. Cycle Against Suicide succeeded in getting over 2,200 people to cycle around Ireland over 14 days, stopping in Schools and Colleges talking about Mental Health in a positive manner.Due to the success of the first year it has now become an annual event.As Operations Director I managed all the logistics of the event (vehicle sponsorship from VW, coordinating the fleet and drivers, coordinating the teams, managing homestays for over 100 people a night, liaising with Gardai, managing the provisions en route etc) as well as all administrative aspects of the event and the finances of the organisation and the event.
