I took on the role of CFO for NCBI, Ireland’s national sight loss agency; a service delivery charity with HSE funding of €7m and a Retail Entity delivering €13m Gross Income from over 130 shops nationwide. Reporting and consolidation of 6 companies was a key focus and in a short time I started the automation of procedures, establishing new systems and processes from a highly paper based office to fully enabled virtual finance function.

Originally CMRF Crumlin, the fundraising charity for Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin, I started as the Finance Director leading the finance and compliance teams. I then became a key member of the merger team of CMRF with TSF and successfully appointed to the position of Director of Finance and Operations for the new charity Children’s Health Foundation where I managed the day to day finances, grant making processes as well as all governance & compliance requirements including Company Secretary & Risk Management.

I established DMM Consulting in 2011 and I quickly developed a reputation as a trusted advisor and partner for financial, operations and compliance expertise.My particular focus was on ensuring client accounts were as efficient as possible through concentration on processes, controls and procedures and streamlining often overly complicated systems.I provided for-profit clients with options to outsource their accounting requirements, project management, systems upgrades and one off reviews of either the accounting function or the business in general.In the not-for-profit sector, I provided services with regard to finance/accounting, logistics and systems work both to the Irish charity sector and International NGOs.I was a proven specialist in reviewing finance manuals and processes, upgrading finance systems and introducing compliance systems for managing donor funds.I was engaged by international NGOs and Irish organisations including Concern Worldwide, Carmichael Centre, Haven, ILCUF, Gorta-Self-Help Africa, Clann Credo, Edmund Rice Development, Microfinance Ireland, Mater Misericordiae Children's University Hospitals Group.

In my capacity of DMM Consulting, I initially started as a volunteer for Cycle Against Suicide which was a new initiative to highlight the support available in Ireland for suicide prevention. As the momentum grew I took on the role of Operations Director full time for 6 months to set up the organisation and to run the event for year one. Cycle Against Suicide succeeded in getting over 2,200 people to cycle around Ireland over 14 days, stopping in Schools and Colleges talking about Mental Health in a positive manner.Due to the success of the first year it has now become an annual event.As Operations Director I managed all the logistics of the event (vehicle sponsorship from VW, coordinating the fleet and drivers, coordinating the teams, managing homestays for over 100 people a night, liaising with Gardai, managing the provisions en route etc) as well as all administrative aspects of the event and the finances of the organisation and the event.

- Management of the Logistics function in GOAL with a responsibility for €40m of the €65m annual turnover of GOAL worldwide (Procurement processes, tendering procedures, logistics manual development and authorisation chart implementation)- Head Compliance: Dealing with Institutional Donors (USAID, EU, ECHO, DfID, UN & Irish Aid) Introduced processes and procedures for managing these donor funds from €500k to €5m grants.

After two years in Darfur Sudan and Pakistan as Field Financial Controller where I managed annual funds between €2-7 million I was promoted to RFC with the responsibility to support the financial controllers in all countries both remotely and by field visits and to advance the implementation of GOAL’s financial policies and procedures in it’s field offices worldwide.

I started as the Finance Manager in 1999 and within two years I was promoted to Assistant General Manager and was responsible for the following:- Managed all finances of the dealership including monthly reporting, annual budgets, sales targets, bonus schemes, debt collections and stock management.- Implemented automated systems for financial reporting which was replicated across the group.- Introducing a purchase ordering system for all vehicle repairs increasing controls on costs.- Successfully handled customer complaints and resolved such at local level and or court level.- Dealt with all aspects of the HR function including implementation of a formal Appraisal system for the sales staff and was brought into Union negotiations by HQ HR.- Took over the management of marketing / promotional events including designing of Radio Adverts, Golf Days and Concert evenings thereby saving the dealership on consultancy fees.
