This role is very varied and I have responsibility for everything from booking vehicles to maintaining the technical supplier sheets for the business. Report running and producing documents, training materials and spreadsheets whilst ensuring that data integrity is met. Providing administrative support to the business means I am relied on for support in all departments. Strong organisational skills are essential in this role along with above average IT skills. Deputising for people in other departments whilst on holiday requires excellent communication skills and the ability to instruct, direct and inform staff members at all levels.

Assisting the Depot Manager my role was varied. I planned the fleet vehicles out of the Oldbury depot and assisted with the day to day running of the site. This covered anything from driver and vehicle allocations to rotas, wages and assisting with HR matters. Dealing with customer service issues for key accounts and offering reporting support and analysis for the depot manager to enable him to complete his tasks.providing direct information in the morning management meetings with the day to day updates and feedback from the depot.A varied role, it gave me a good insight into the planning element of a busy haulage company and kept my customer service and computer skills updated. Sadly ended due to redundancy.

Following the acquisition of Birds by Montgomery Transport, I was managing the Freight Forwarding division at Oldbury Depot. Liaising with customers and suppliers in order to satisfy customer requirements. Covering customer service for these customers whilst maintaining a good working relationship with partners and Montgomery internal departments.

In this role I was responsible for the development of new business into the company by means of marketing and direct contact. Understanding the customers needs as well as our operational requirements was paramount to ensure that any business brought on is maintained and serviced efficiently and to mutually agreed service level agreements. Assisting in the set up of accounts to include customer training on the online job entry systems and ensure they have a good understanding of the parameters of the Pallet-Track Network for their consignments. Responsible for a team of drivers, supervisors and warehouse staff in a parcel courier depot, also dealing with palletised goods. During my appointment I directed the team to effectively assist in the growth of inbound and outbound volumes which equated to an almost 55% increase from January. I held responsibility for all aspects of the depot from recruitment to stationary and everything in between. A valuable appointment, this position has given me excellent insight into the parcel and pallet business and into the processes of running a small warehouse and depot. This, undoubtedly has given me new experience and enable me to transfer these skills to any role.
