Sustainability is the cornerstone of the business and Camira has been 'greening' products and processes for over 10 years. My major responsibilities in this position included the design and development of textiles within specified technical requirements and costs, to a deadline. This role involved liaison with manufacturing staff, sales representatives, management and directors. To research global markets I attended Heimtextil and Decosit as well as other European furniture fairs. The company were one of the first manufacturers to offer environmentally aware textile solutions in the UK contract market.Working in a mill with fully vertical manufacturing was invaluable. Developing textiles where so many manufacturing processes were under one roof alongside years of hands-on practise, so readily passed on, gave me experience I couldn’t get anywhere else.
