• Consult with clinicians/therapists to gather clients’ collateral information to determine whether clients (children and adolescents) would benefit from psychotropic medication management. • Review clients’ charts to assess the use of psychotropic medications for individualized client care. Perform psychiatric mental status and physical examinations on clients. • Identify clients presenting symptoms and accurately diagnose psychiatric disorders. • Obtain informed and medication consents before prescribing medications. • Prescribe the right medications, being aware of the right dosage, indications, contraindications, side effects, and other reactions to manage clients’ mental health disorders appropriately through recovery to discharge. • Laboratory and other diagnostic tests are ordered, and results are reviewed and interpreted to identify clients’ potential tolerability to the prescribed medications. • Establish and document the prognosis and mental health treatment plan, and maintain thorough, in-depth case files for individual clients. • Collaborate with clients’ PCPs to ensure that medical conditions are treated, and annual physical examinations are up to date.

• Review and analyze clients’ (across the lifespan) records to assess the use of psychiatric medications as well as the standard and suitability of individual clients with mental health disorders. • Continue to provide adequate and individualized client care from diagnosis of mental health disorder to client’s recovery and discharge. • Conduct physical and mental health evaluations. This involves ordering, interpreting, and assessing diagnostic tests and examinations in addition to conducting patient interviews to gather a comprehensive medical history. • Establish and document the prognosis and mental health treatment plan, and maintain thorough, in-depth case files for all patients. • Initiate a medication regimen, being aware of the right dosage, indications, contraindications, side effects, and other reactions as well as the treatment itself prior to consultation with the physician.

• As a member of the clinical team, I conduct intakes, assess, and screen walk-in, police, and ambulance drop-off clients for admission criteria into an inpatient setting. • Evaluating clients presenting problems, perform mental health status evaluation, collaborating with the client to create a plan of care using therapeutic communication. • Notifying the assigned psychiatrist for additional evaluation and diagnosis. • Implementing clients’ admission, care, and discharge plans in consultation with healthcare professionals. • Evaluating medical information and providing direct and individualized bedside nursing care to adults and adolescents with mental health disorders. • Attending to clients’ concerns by answering questions, advocacy, and educating clients and their families on individual therapy, family therapy, and psychotherapy. • Monitoring clients’ vital signs and reporting abnormal findings promptly to the physician.• Administering psychotropic medications as prescribed, closely monitoring their adverse effects and efficacy, and educating patients using an interdisciplinary approach. • Collaborate with the treatment team and offer case management services to provide patient-centered care.
