 Management, coordination, and oversight of Pre-Award activities throughout the Department of Medicine (DoM) comprising over 1200 proposals with projected expenditures over $360 million. Manages contract review process to include verifying proposal budgets and language for completeness & general conformance with University and agency guidelines, providing oversight for federal contracting negotiations; acting as liaison between central and department personnel. Interfaces with Principal Investigators, Business Manager, Central Grants Administration, and/or granting agencies regarding contract interpretation and Sponsored Programs policies; assists with contract negotiations. Provide oversight for 16 divisional grants managers and their staff (currently, approximately 30 grants administrative staff), conducting both pre-award and post-award activities. Provide oversight for department portfolio of institutional training grants and fellowships to include coordination of submissions, managing a quarterly review process, Post-Award administration and providing guidance related to sponsor requirements. Implementation and management of Pre-Award activities related to the Department of Medicine Clinical Research Unit including facilitation of internal cost assessment/feasibility, contract review, and risk management. Develop and conduct departmental training for institutional training grants, cost assessment and feasibility, and budget negotiation. Establish and implement policies and procedures for departmental staff that conform with institutional and sponsor guidelines.
