As Lead Tire Technician, I am responsible for repairing and replacing tires on commercial vehicles such as tractors, tractor-trailers (big rigs), and farming equipment, while also delegating responsibilities and duties to subordinate technicians. Currently, on a typical day, I will be dispatched to a remote, distressed vehicle by a store manager. After selecting appropriate tools and tire parts and upon arrival, I will repair or replace damaged tires based on my diagnosis. With my knowledge of repair techniques, I can delegate orders to crew members assisting me on multiple distress calls. This line of work requires me to endure extreme temperatures and environments, including but not limited to 100+ degree weather and dangerous freeways. Typically, I can complete upwards of ten service calls daily while also managing other technicians' service calls remotely. While my workdays generally end after twelve hours, during summer and fall, I can work fifteen hours+ with additional pay. If I am not working on distress calls or delegating orders to crewmen, I am utilizing my skills at the shop. This can involve rotating, balancing, and repairing passenger vehicle tires. I'm able to manage crewmen at the shop to produce quality work. At work, I can execute proper safety protocols (OSHA) while operating heavy pieces of machinery such as forklifts, power tools, and hydraulic jacks. Additionally, to refine my skill set further, I have excellent attendance, proper time management, customer service experience, logistical training, and leadership knowledge. I use my 16 years of experience to make sure my workplace is operating in a safe, productive, and profitable way to ensure stability for myself and my crewmates.
