About Dee Honeybun

Dee Honeybun is a London based artist and educator working with digital moving-image and photography. Practice-based research examines moving images in the cityscape, specifically those in retail fashion and apparel shop windows to explore sets of relations between networked images, the built environment, and the body. Collaboration is part of Honeybun’s approach, most recently working with a movement practitioner. Dee has many years experience as an artist educator using animation/filmmaking and the visual arts, planning and delivering workshops and projects to engage participants in the creativity process, stimulate curiosity and inspire learning. Dee builds projects in a collaborative way taking into account different learning styles. Experience is broad and includes working with early years, schools, young people with special educational needs, family learning and community groups alongside planning and delivering out-reach work with museums and public bodies.Dee originally studied ceramics. Following her Masters Degree, she discovered an affinity with video whilst working collaboratively in creative learning and community engagement. In 2013, experiments with editing provoked new explorations with moving image and sound. Alongside working in education, Dee has extensive gallery experience. She is currently the in-house photographer for a central London ceramics gallery, working part-time as part of a small team. Over the years Dee has had direct involvement with the many aspects of running a gallery.

Ian was filmed and interviewed at EVE Gallery, Edenbridge, Kent. The work on display brings together various modes of expression; drawing, printing, found objects, ceramic sculptural form, and a crude sensual use of clay.December 2016 - June 2017 | Speak Machine | in collaboration with Forest Poets and The Pumphouse Museum. A response to the E17 Art Trail theme of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths), Speak Machine is a creative collaboration between its originator, the filmmaker Dee Honeybun, and the E17-based poetry collective, Forest Poets. The project began with a conversation between Dee Honeybun and Mike Sims (Forest Poets) about a possible collaboration for the E17 Art Trail 2017, and how the Pumphouse Museum, with its unrivalled collection of the engines, vehicles and other machines made in Walthamstow and the Lea Valley, could provide the inspiration. The first stage was an exciting open mic evening at the Rose and Crown pub in March, at which poets and writers performed STEAM-inspired poems. Recordings of these performances have been incorporated within the finished film. Lines from participating poems have been sampled and remixed into the community poem ‘Speak Machine’.
