SENTRYNET: Developing trust among soldiers, civilians and robots (Ongoing Project)• The objective of this project is to explore the development of methodologies and technologies that will enable autonomous robots to interact with the public and respond to situations in a manner that maintains control and security of the local environment.Real Time Emotion Recognition Model• Implemented a real-time emotion recognition system to generate emotion sensitive responses to utterances.• As a proof of concept, the methodology is implemented on the Sentrybot robot with a core focus to monitor emotional state of the user.A user interest prediction model in online social networks• In this work users’ interest in discussions in online social networks for the purpose of targeted advertisement are investigated. Three graphs are generated: one that models the user’s interest as a labeled undirected bipartite graph network, with users on one side of the graph and discussions on the other side, a second graph that models the user-to-user relationship based on interest and lastly a graph that models the discussion-to-discussion relationship based on topic of interest. • All these graphs are then analyzed to extract the most prominent topics or the most trending topics of interest in the network and the general associated users’ interest towards these topics in that period of time.
