Deen Joseph (Director)BSc (Hons) QS (UCT) | PrQS (SACQSP 6581) | MRICS (RICS 6369451) | PMAQS (ASAQS 24596482)The construction industry was introduced to Deen from a young age through the family business, and although not playing an active role, it was the catalyst for his future passion and eventual decision to pursue a tertiary education in the built environment at the University of Cape Town – having completed a Bachelor of Science in Construction Studies degree and Bachelor of Science Honours in Quantity Surveying degree, in 2012 and 2013 respectively.Previously, Deen worked in Dubai, UAE where he was exposed to international best practices and various size projects, notably luxury residential fitouts on the Palm Jumeirah. Upon relocating back to South Africa, he was exposed to well-known consulting firms within Cape Town – observing and gaining insight to the various business cultures and practices, with the idea of cultivating his own. The positive aspects were noted and highlighted, but more importantly, the negative aspects were lessons learnt. With the formation of Factor6, Deen will promote and instil these best practices to ensure a business that stands out by its very nature, providing professional services at a high standard.On the academic front, Deen lectures part-time at the University of Cape Town in the Department of Construction Economics and Management and at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in the Construction Management & Quantity Surveying Department – with a core focus on developing young minds in the field of quantity surveying.
