It was a full-time paid internship.The allotted project was to design the new Air Pollution Control Plant (APCP) for different sections such as Digestion, Leaching, and sulfuric acid plant. For that, We had proposed to provide Venturi with a packed bed alkali scrubber as the stream contains Particulate matter (PM) and SO2 in major. Achieved 50-55% reduction capacity of impurities from the effluent gaseous stream.Project Exposure:Designing of Venturi, Packed bed scrubber, Heat exchanger, Batch reactor for Caustic preparation, Storage tanks, Pumps and Blower sizing, Pressure drop calculations, Line sizing, Selection of MOC and Packing material, direct conversation with Client and Vendors, etc.Prepared Conceptual design report, Equipment and Process Datasheets, Excel sheet of calculations and results, Drawing of PFD with AutoCAD and P&ID with Plant3D, Process Simulations by DWSIM, Material and Energy Balance.Other Exposure:Venting calculation of Internal Floating Roof Vertical Tank - Above ground (IFRVT A/G) and Underground Tanks (U/G) of Motor Spirit (MS) and High Speed Diesel (HSD) as per API 2000. PSV sizing studies as per API 520/521/526.

As a subject matter expert, I was getting paid for providing solutions to technical queries of chemical engineering.

NBCL is a fertilizer company. The internship was about analysing the production process of Single super phosphate (SSP) and Magnesium sulphate. Designed pump and Did material balance for SSP production. Proposed economic suggestions such as replacement of oversized pumps, recovery of HF, use of economizer, etc.
