Power System Engineer I
CurrentAs a Power Systems Engineer at Open System International-AspenTech, I play a key role in the delivery of cutting-edge Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) to some of the world’s most innovative electric utilities. My work involves designing, building, configuring, testing, and implementing state-of-the-art systems, with a particular focus on Outage Management Systems (OMS) that span across both operational and information technology domains within electric utilities. In this rapidly growing and dynamic field, I collaborate closely with a team of driven engineers and work directly with clients to understand their operational needs, providing customized system configurations and training to optimize their grid operations. My responsibilities include leading customer workshops, conducting system and acceptance testing, and troubleshooting complex issues in collaboration with technical experts across various domains.A significant part of my role is developing scripts and middleware solutions to integrate third-party systems, ensuring seamless operation and enhanced functionality. Additionally, I work alongside product development and management teams to continuously improve and advance our products, helping to expand the Smart Grid capabilities of our clients. This involves providing detailed insights into grid operations, from power generation to delivery at the customer meter, and supporting the utility’s business functions with precise data capture.By helping utilities to optimize their grid operations, I contribute to reducing environmental impacts through the conservation of critical resources. I also have the opportunity to shape the future of the electrical grid, working with AspenTech’s globally recognized Digital Grid Management software suite, including OSI products, which empowers power and utility companies to achieve superior real-time control, optimization, and management of complex energy networks.
