Deepa is a Times Higher Education accredited counsellor, she has been in education for the past 20 years. Since 2021 Deepa has been working at St. Andrews International School (S107), Bangna, as a University and Careers Advisor after completing her College Counselling Certificate from UCLA. In the academic year 2022, Deepa has an additional role as an IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) coordinator at St Andrews (S107). Previously Deepa was an EAL instructor, transitioning to a Learning Support instructor at Bangkok Patana School in Bangkok, Thailand. At S107, Deepa started the university and career advising from its foundation and has built a strong foundation for students to explore all aspects of life beyond S107. Deepa has also developed the curriculum for the IBCP Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) and Reflective Project (RP) programs. We are building relationships with local universities for project work. Her time at S107 includes teaching Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) and Reflective Project (RP) to the IBCP students and coordinating the IBCP programme with the DP coordinator and subject teachers. Deepa also uses her time preparing students from years 9 to 13 university application process, such as IGCSE subject options and careers in year 9, IB subject options and careers for Year 11 and an intensive university readiness program for years 12 and 13. Deepa meets students and parents regularly on a 1:1 basis and during the university seminars and fairs hosted at S107.Deepa believes in building relationships with students, parents, colleagues, universities and all stakeholders using a personalised approach to teaching and learning based on student needs. Deepa has created the lesson plans for IBCP, PPS and RP, tracks and assesses student progress and mentors students to develop essential study and time management skills. In addition, Deepa is a qualified dyslexia specialist and an advocate for students who need additional academic support. Deepa has also supported gifted and talented students through the Model United Nations programme, co-running and leading overseas conferences.
