Represented the interests of the Retail business in what was a broader cross-business(Downstream India) change program / business system implementation. Developed a deep understanding & appreciation of business process modelling and change management through this opportunity to read, absorb and propagate extensive business process documentation; interact with international business process experts and facilitating & experiencing the transition of business structure & processes from pre to post SAP implementation state.

Shell India Retail

As Pricing Manager, managed Retail fuel pricing across the India network in line with given business targets. Scope of work included consolidating input cost information from various cost owners, modeling price change scenarios and likely impact on existing business situation, agreeing most viable pricing option with concerned stakeholders and implementing the revised prices across the network. As Business Planning Manager, implemented the annual business planning process for the India network. Scope of work included developing a tool to capture cost and sales planning for 60+ sites, agreeing standard and non-standard costs and revenue streams for each site, establishing a schedule of monthly debit/credit scenario for each of the sites, reviewing and remedying business performance of sites with respect to agreed plans.

Shell India Retail

Managed daily operations of a network of retail sites in the state of Tamil Nadu and Southern Andhra Pradesh. Individual sites were managed by self employed retailers. My scope of work included facilitating a safety first approach to operations in line with company policy and culture; supporting retailers to employ, train and develop site staff such that a positive differentiation was created & sustained for customers and the employees themselves; periodically reviewing site operations and retailer performance as per company process to bring about and sustain Operational excellence and Customer delight; assessing relative performance of retailers to manage their remuneration; and managing site economics by agreeing, reviewing and resetting site business plans(P&L) with retailers.

Responsible for developing a fuel retailing network in line with the Shell’s global standards and to challenge local competition. Scope of work included extensive market study & analysis to identify opportunities for network growth, negotiate deals ensuring economic viability of each prject, execute land purchase/lease in line with company policy & regulatory framework, facilitate permitting and construction process. Covering key cities in the Southern, Western & Eastern parts of India.
