Senior Research Scientist
• Designed and constructed stainless steel oraganosilane synthesis manifold incorporating mass flow controllers, pressure transducers, pressure gauges, check valves, pressure regulators, pressure safety valves, inline GC analysis and scrubbers.• Designed and constructed stainless steel distillation still incorporating, pressure safety disks, pressure transducers, pressure gauges, thermocouples, distillation column and condensers.• Implemented hazard assessment reviews using PHAWorks focusing on highly reactive chlorofluorosilane (high vapor pressure liquids, liquified gases and gases) safety.• Synthesized and purified highly reactive chlorosilanes and chlorofluorosilanes such as bis(trichlorosilyl)methane, trichlorofluorosilane etc. for dielectric film deposition, following strict safety protocols with zero safety incidents and near misses.• Characterized highly reactive and metastable chlorofluorosilanes with the help of NMR (29Si, 19F, 13C, 1H), GC-MS, LC- MS, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), TGA, thermal screening unit (TSU).• Designed and implemented P&IDs using Visio, hands on experience with ASPEN simulation and LabVIEW software. Proficient working with Swagelok fittings, cutting and bending stainless steel tubings and parr reactors.
Chemist
Designed and synthesized ionic liquid functionalized novel carbon fiber scaffolding for effective andselective removal of charged contaminants such as perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAAs) present in contaminated water.Designed and synthesized protein immobilized carbon fiber scaffolding for renal dialysis applications.Designed and synthesized ionic liquid stabilized silver nanoparticles for the colorimetric detection of1,4-dioxane using UV/Vis spectroscopy.
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Understanding the role that ionic liquids (ILs) and polymeric ionic liquids (PILs) play in chromatographic separations and sample preparation, particularly microextraction-based techniques. The application of magnetic ionic liquids in nucleic acid extraction and preservation, analysis of genotoxic impurities and residual solvents in active pharmaceutical ingredients, and the development of new stationary phases for the analysis of complex samples using comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography.- Magnetic ionic liquids based on transition metal complexes with N-alkylimidazole ligands, were synthesized in an efficient synthetic pathway. These liquids are useful in in-situ liquid-liquid extractions and they may have application in catalysis as well as in optoelectronics.- Design, synthesis, characterization and study of optoelectronic and magnetic properties ofrare earth containing novel ionic liquids and liquid crystals. A facile way for quaternization of 1, 2, 4 - Triazole was invented. 1, 2, 4 - Triazole based liquid crystals were synthesized and characterized. These soft luminescent materials may have potential application in liquid crystal displays, as electrolytes and stationary phases for gas chromatography.- Europium and terbium complexes showing bright red and green emissions were prepared andcharacterized. High quantum yield was achieved with them.- Characterization of ionic liquids using, DSC, TG, NMR, FTIR (solid and liquid), LC-MS, Single crystal X-ray crystallography, X-ray powder diffraction.
