Deepak has been a key contributor to enable the Semicon, Electronics, IT, Auto & Defense sectors in Bharat through a multitude of policy decisions, investments and path breaking products.He setup World's largest Mobile and Bharat's first OLED Mobile Display plants.He created blueprint for Bharat's two IIIT Design & Manufacturing. His team delivered successful pilots for States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttarakhand for the state eGovernance programs and for Central Government for ePassport, MCA21, India Gateway project, eGovernance standards & National eGovernance Plan.Deepak worked with DoT, GoB, to build the first Broadband Policy, and globally harmonize 2.5 GHz and 3.4 to 3.6 GHz bands for broadband spectrum. He founded the WiMAX Forum of India and enabled world's first long distance wireless broadband pilot with GoUK.He led the affordable computing device program with GoB, leading to sub $100 device and making redundant Negroponte's $180 OLPC project.Deepak laid the foundation for LED lights adoption in Bharat, from Govt. policies to transitioning the industry from CFL to LEDs. He co-founded the LED Forum of India. He led the efforts to design the first eRickshaw in Bharat along with DST and transitioning TERI's LaBL program from CFL to LEDs. The cost of solar lanterns became 1/3rd, leading to mass scale manufacturing and accessibility for rural Bharat.Deepak co-founded the FICCI Medical Device and Equipment Forums, paving way for Bharat's focus on standards, approvals and indigenous design and manufacturing. The TI funding to boost medical electronic research at SMST, IITKgp was also undertaken.He provided new direction to India Semiconductor Association, renaming it India Electronic Semiconductor Association. He coined the term Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM), to provide thrust to the electronic sector in Bharat.Deepak went onto lead Bharat's biggest Electronic Sector manufacturing investments for world's largest mobile manufacturing and world's 3rd OLED mobile display manufacturing facilities. He led the efforts for largest smart class program of the world, largest rural customer service network over service vans and world's largest retail-cum-experience center of an electronic major.He was program manager for Tata Motor's first indigenous product, the Tata Wheel Loader and the first ISO:9001 & SAP implementation of Bharat in a manufacturing unit.Deepak has held various positions in trade associations, government committees, standards bodies and educational institutions through his career spanning 33 years.
