Ever since I can remember, I was always fascinated with the flying objects. I always dreamt of creating an object that could fly. The dream got a sound foundation when I joined Team Vyoma: Asia’s first SAE International Aero Design East Competing Team. I developed several RC Models, Fixed Wing UAVs, & Quadrotors. I participated in the SAE Aero Design East Challenge twice in the years 2011 & 2012 held in Atlanta, GA. I wanted to pursue Masters in Aeronautical/Aerospace after I graduated with BE in Mechanical Engineering from RVCE. I had the “I came looking for Copper and I found Gold” moment when I discovered an Aircraft Design course offered by MSRSAS (now RUAS) in collaboration with Coventry University. I was indulged in doing the conceptual design, performing CFD analyses in ICEM-CFD and Fluent, and evaluating performance and stability. I graduated the course winning two Gold Medals for the best overall performance & the best thesis. The thesis co-authored with my aircraft design Guru Dr. H. K. Narahari was later published in SAROD-2015 & an extension of it in Springer-2018.Adding thrust to my passion, my career took-off at Genser as an Intern in the Design Team. The Design Team at Genser was (and still is) working on design and development of a clean sheet, 2+7-seater, turbofan-powered, intra-continental, light business jet. As I began to climb, I performed CFD analyses on several configurations of the wing, the fuselage and the empennage, and area-ruling of the aircraft while recommending changes to the design to improve the performance. Later, I ventured into whole aircraft CFD analyses which subsequently, led to the evaluation of the jet’s performance in terms of RoC, NBAA IFR Range, Take-off & Landing Distances, etc. As a Lead Engineer, my passion has broadened, covering aerodynamic design, CFD analyses, Power-plant integration, and Performance Evaluation. While I liaise the engine integration activity with GHAE, I collaborate with HAL ARDC for low-speed wind tunnel testing. I coordinate between groups of Aerodynamics and Performance, Structures and Loads, and Systems ensuring unhindered cruise of design & development.I am looking to land on an opportunity in the field of aircraft design, research and development where I can showcase and hone my knowledge as an aircraft design engineer. My areas of interests are+ Conceptual Aircraft Design (Wing, fuselage, empennage and nacelle design)+ Aerodynamics and CFD analyses+ Performance Evaluation+ Wind tunnel testingAspiring to become the next Burt Rutan in the field of aircraft design.
