Providing technical inputs to review Nepal’s health systems, program reviews and assessments, program design and strategic planning, evidence review and synthesis, and policy dialogue to strengthen the health of Nepal.

Responsible for the delivery, performance, and management of three large grants from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) in Nepal. Save the Children (SC) serves as Principal Recipient (PR) under NFM-III for three grants: HIV, TB, and malaria, which have a combined 3-year budget of approximately $82 million.

Overall co-lead for USAID funded Health Systems Strengthening Project ($32 million, 2018-2023) focusing Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Family Planning activities through systems support in context of federalism and COVID-19 response activities. Providing strategic direction for program delivery, monitoring and dissemination of lessons; ensuring quality of program implementation, supervise STA and Technical Specialists; ensuring use of evidence in planning, budgeting, policy development; ensuring donor and government engagement on technical, programmatic and reporting requirements. Led health portfolio including nutrition, HIV AIDS, and WASH including providing strategic direction for program delivery, monitoring and dissemination of lessons. Responsibilities also included building program portfolio and ensuring quality of existing programs, supervising COPs and Project Managers implementing health, nutrition and HIV AIDS projects, ensuring evidence of impact for projects under health portfolio, builds capacity of the team to ensure donor and Government of Nepal requirements in terms of technical, administrative, financial and reporting requirements; addressing most critical issues for children and their families, supports relevant advocacy measures in a timely and appropriate manner; and promotes program integration with other thematic areas.

Supported DFID’s engagement in the health sector in Nepal by providing technical advice and leadership for DFID Nepal health and nutrition program. This included management of bilateral assistance (£52 million, 2010-2015; £6 million, 2015-2016) to the Ministry of Health and overseeing technical assistance (£22 million, 2010-2017) on essential health service delivery, improving quality of care, family planning, behavior change communication, nutrition research trial (£3 million, 2012-2016), integrating family planning, health and nutrition activities. Served as SRO for health programs and responsible for project design, management, implementation and reporting.

Provided technical, programmatic, and administrative management of nutrition, maternal and child health programs. Served as an AOR for mission’s flagship maternal and child health program ($30million, 2007-2012) and activity manager for integrated nutrition and agriculture programs ($2 million, 2008-2012). Led the process to design and award health system strengthening project ($19 million, 2012-2017); managed 2011 Nepal DHS and further analysis activities; and produced several program reviews and evaluations.

Provided technical guidance for child survival, family health and polio eradication projects. Developed five year health sector strategy, developed and implemented behavior change communication strategy for child survival, developed a successful proposal for child survival project and conducted mid-term reviews and final evaluation of health projects.
