I have a background in a host of biomedical, biochemical, and engineering settings. With my undergraduate work in Neuroscience, Master's in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, and PhD in Neuroscience, I have been exposed to not only basic biological science, but also its application in a clinical and public health setting. In my previous positions, I was a Sr. Field Applications Scientist (FAS) with Miltenyi Biotec for the North American Advanced Imaging portfolio, where I was the subject matter expert for light sheet microscopy, and a FAS for Vizgen, with expertise in spatial transcriptomics sample preparation and instrument operation.

Graduate Student ResearcherUniversity Of Maryland Jun 2012 - Dec 2018College Park, Md, UsPhD student in the lab of Dr. Elizabeth Quinlan. Studying in the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science program under the Biology Department.I studied the anatomical, synaptic correlates of adult neuroplasticity in the rodent visual cortex. I used acute estrogen administration to test the hypothesis that hormone treatment can re-instate brain plasticity and lead to regain of sensory and cognitive function in the aging brain. Techniques: Immunohistochemstry, viral vector tracing, animal survival surgery, fluorescent confocal microscopy, western blotting, image analysis with custom ImageJ macros and Matlab -
Nhlbi Irta ProgramNational Institutes Of Health Jun 2010 - Jun 2012Bethesda, Md, UsLab of Biochemistry Member (June 2010 - June 2011)Investigated the role of cell-adhesion protein pathways in anchorage-independent cell growth (relating to metastasis of oncogenic cells) using cell culture, DNA sequencing (PCR), and protein analysis (western blotting).Lab of Molecular and Cellular Imaging Member (June 2011 - June 2012)Performed research relating to the role of interacelluar proteins in endo- and exocytosis. Utilized cloning of novel bacterial vectors in mammalian cell culture to elucidate protein location in the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane.Trained extensively in transmission electron microscopy sample preparation and imaging to collect high-resolution / magnification, 3D reconstructions of endocytotic cell structures. -
