Deepankar holds an MBA (PGDM) from Apeejay School of Management, New Delhi and completed his B.Com (Hons) from Shyam Lal College, University of Delhi.As the Joint Director of Public Policy at MAIT, India's apex industry body empowering IT, Telecom, and Electronics Hardware, he plays a crucial role in representing the sector's interests. He engages closely with government agencies such as the Ministry of Electronics & IT, Department of Telecommunications, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, Department of Commerce, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, and Department of Consumer Affairs to shape policies and regulations that benefit the ICT industry.He is responsible for driving strategic policy initiatives in Commerce, Customs, and Consumer Affairs. His role involves frequent interactions with industry stakeholders and government agencies to align with MAIT's goals. Key areas of focus include advocating for Right to Repair, promoting Electronics Repair Service Outsourcing (ERSO), supporting the adoption of a Common Charging Port, addressing issues related to Legal Metrology Packaging Commodity Rules, and resolving interpretations concerning HSN Codes in Customs regulations. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in collaborating with UNICEF to organize e-waste awareness workshops in Delhi schools and strengthened MAIT's strategic relationship with UNICEF.Previously, he served as a Communication & Policy Consultant at the Office of the Minister of Commerce & Industry, CA&FPD, and Textiles. He also held positions at prominent industry associations like ASSOCHAM and PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.With over six years of experience, he specializes in public policy, government affairs, communications, corporate affairs, business development, and marketing.He has led outreach initiatives in diverse regions, including Imphal, Dehradun, Udaipur, Srinagar, New Delhi, and Dharamshala, partnering with key stakeholders. He has also headed Indian Agri and Food export delegations to Kazakhstan, Iran, and Iraq, gaining recognition from the Consul General of India in Erbil, Kurdistan Region (Iraq).He has a strong background in writing on international trade, Indian agriculture, polity, and communications. Recently, he has actively participated in webinars and panel discussions organized by IIFT, Copenhagen Business School, GD Goenka University, Lady Irwin College, NIAM Jaipur, Amity University, Apeejay School of Management, and several government and private academic institutions.
