About Deep Chakraborty

I am a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at UMass Amherst specializing in Deep Learning and Computer Vision, with publications in top tier conferences such as ECCV, CVPR and INTERSPEECH. I am currently working on improving object detection using unsupervised/self-supervised learning in images/video. Previously, I have worked on projects like improving pedestrian detection in thermal images using saliency maps and improving object detection in images using unsupervised hard negative mining from videos. I have also worked on deep learning for speech in projects such as emotion recognition and emotion conversion using generative adversarial networks. In the past, I have worked on deep learning approaches for semantic segmentation in images, face detection/verification algorithms, speaker identification and speech processing, and embedded computer vision for robotics. My aim is to enable intelligent reasoning in machines through high level understanding from images, audio and video, enabling a true Artificial General Intelligence.
