Major area of work was identification of genes responsible for imparting abiotic stress tolerance, particularly targeting thermo tolerant genes for by making use of various differential display techniques like SSH and Microarray. We have targeted four important developmental stages and generated forward and reverse subtractive cDNA libraries control and stress treated plants. We have also completed Microarray from post anthesis/grain filling stage. We have also completed Microarray from post anthesis/grain filling stage. We have got some important heat stress responsive genes; which are being validated using real time PCR, followed by RACE. Construct preparation using suitable plant expression vector is underway. The results from the present project will be relevant for transgenic development as well as in delineating the molecular mechanism for heat stress tolerance. Show less

I worked on DBT funded project entitled "Identification and characterization of Novel cold and drought responsive genes from Eleusine coracana". During this tenure I worked on following techniques like 5’ and 3’ RACE, Bacterial Expression, Real Time-PCR, RT PCR, Expression Profiling, Molecular Cloning, Micro array data analysis using Array Assist from AVADIS software.

Guiding Biotechnology students, during theory classes as well as practical sessions on the subjects Molecular Biology and Molecular Genetics. I was also responsible for Content Development of the courses and analyzing the assignment given to the students.
