About Dee Pierce, Acc

As a leadership coach, I look for opportunities to support people and organizations, helping each fully utilize their combined gifts and talents to achieve their goals. For individuals, it starts with seeing yourself clearly, who you are, what you want to do, who you are becoming. Then figuring out where and how to get after it. An organization is defined by its leaders, at the highest levels and throughout the organization. Leaders who learn to care well for themselves and their teams, who invest in the people around them, and who see what is possible, not only what is, will create organizations that will thrive. With professional experience in Federal and state government, a Big Four professional services firm, not-for-profit organizations, and higher education, my unique and diverse background has prepared me well to help others reach their full potential. Something I do every day.

At Adair Partners, we believe each of us has unique gifts and talents. We help you discover and unleash yours. As a team of certified executive and leadership coaches, consultants, and facilitators, we focus on working with our clients to uncover their values, gifts, and talents. We collaborate to design a plan to maximize their impact in this world. We are relentlessly optimistic about who our clients are and what they can accomplish. We often find we're their biggest and most vocal cheerleaders. But we're not just about "happy talk." We also guide our clients in developing and practicing the key skills and behaviors they need to excel. We start with identifying their values and priorities. We develop their emotional intelligence. We show them ways to build trust and psychological safety – self-trust as well as trust within their teams and broader organizations. And we teach them how to overcome any immunity to change they might be facing. On those foundational blocks we then help our clients develop those keys skills and behaviors needed to thrive in the workplace. Adopting new mindsets by minimizing unconscious biases, limiting beliefs, and other barriers to growth. Becoming effective communicators by making clear requests, articulating performance expectations, creating commitments, and identifying mechanisms for accountability. Enhancing individual and team effectiveness and a wide variety of other leadership and managerial skills and behaviors.

  • Wheaton College Center For Vocation And Career
    Director
Wheaton College Center For Vocation And Career Mar 2015 - Apr 2022
    Wheaton, Illinois
Creativity. Collaboration. Connecting. These have been my themes during my term as Director. Thinking outside of the box, and like so many, we pivoted to largely virtual interactions, as required by the pandemic. These innovations included a skill-building program to replace the internship experiences so many of our students lost during the summers of 2020 and 2021. Increased collaboration with faculty, deans, student activities, athletics, and residence life, resulted in connections with students who are not typical consumers of career centers. From internship presentations to varsity athletic teams to Strengths presentations with RAs and student government leaders, the CVC is an integral part of the life of the College for many organizations. Connecting students to alumni was a major focus. During Careeer Communities, career exploration events, and Externship Day our students learned the value of talking to those who have gone before them. These connections benefit the College in terms of student outcomes and also engagement of alumni. Using a wealth of data, we looked at the reach to students and identified students who need more specialized outreach. The result: Career Communities and a Faculty Fellows program. Three of the Carer Communities focused specifically on the unique experience of BIPOC students in the workplace. The Faculty Fellows program equipped faculty to talk with students in all of their classes on a weekly basis on the topic of career. In addition, they created assignments that would helps students develope career-readiness skills. Early changes included the creation of a five-part series, Canvas: Framing Your Vocation and Career, designed just for sophomores, a critical year in the journey toward life after college. With 42% of sophomore students participating in the events during the inaugural year, the series generated enthusiasm and engagement with our team.

To facilitate self-awareness, advised students on how their Gallup Strengths would be beneficial in particular work environments and assisted them in better understanding how those attributes would translate into the workplace. Helped students translate their experiences into language that would help a prospective employer understand the transferable skills they had developed.
