Head of UKHSA’s Rapid Investigation Team which is a multi-disciplinary national team established to provide rapid operational and field support in response to large and/or complex incidents/ outbreaks. The remit of the team includes rapid field biological sampling, data collection, data analysis and report production. My team has responded to all national incidents in England in the last 12 months, including COVID Omicron, Monkeypox, iGAS, Diphtheria, TB, Avian Influenza, Cryptosporidium, Measles, STEC.Lead for Tuberculosis (TB) for Field Services Division, UKHSA.

Provided strategic leadership for the PHE Test & Trace Operations Cell which was set up to provide public health advice and support for all aspects of the COVID testing & contact tracing programme in England. The Test &Trace Operations Cell had nearly 200 staff and 6 workstreams – 1) Contact Tracing Advisory Cell; 2) International Traveler Contact Tracing; 3) Contact Tracing Data Management; 4) Enhanced Contact Tracing; 5) Lab Surveillance and 6) Scripts and Guidance. I was the lead for the International Traveler Contact Tracing team (100 staff) which was responsible for contact tracing of all international flights with confirmed COVID cases.

Undertook a project as a Subject Matter Expert for tuberculosis (TB), working on a short-term basis with Deloitte.Prepared a project initiation document and developed a five-year strategy focused on improving diagnosis, treatment and reporting of TB cases. It made recommendations for improving TB screening; including consideration for implementing a Latent TB infection (LTBI) screening programme. Developed an Operational Plan for implementation of Qatar’s TB Strategy for scaling up TB control activities by strengthening clinical, diagnostic, surveillance and screening provision to achieve WHO’s elimination targets.
