As the Head of the PEA department and the Director of ABPDU at Berkeley Lab, I lead the R&D efforts necessary to develop cost-effective biomanufacturing processes. With a PhD in Biological Engineering and an MBA in Strategy and Finance, I have over 15 years of experience in industrial R&D, scale-up, and management of large teams. I am passionate about bridging the gap between lab-scale research and commercial deployment of innovative biotechnologies that can address global challenges in energy, environment, and health. I have successfully sourced, developed, and owned partnerships with over 25 companies, academic labs, and venture firms. I have also developed the vision and roadmap for a hardware-software moonshot product, the Self-Driving Bioreactor, that aims to revolutionize the biomanufacturing industry. I enjoy working with highly interdisciplinary and cross matrixed teams, and empowering them to achieve their goals and deliver impact.
