I am working in the education sector for the past 9 years. Over these years, I have indulged in different experiences that this vast sector had in offer. I started my career in education at an NGO by working with several government schools across Karnataka, India. From envisioning hands-on learning programmes in government schools, to raising funds, recruiting, training and guiding a team to implement the programme vision, this experience gave me a peak into the public education sector in India. It was here that I realised that I was interested specifically in outdoor education and environment education. Hence pursued my Masters in Social Science (with focus on outdoor education). I then worked as a fellow teacher at a government school where children from the Jenu Kuruba tribe studied. I later on worked as an outdoor educator and organized outdoor learning programmes for children (especially from urban areas) in the Western Ghats region to develop nature connectedness among them. My experience with the children from Jenu Kuruba tribe motivated me to work towards epistemic and social justice in education, and hence my perusal for research towards this as a PhD student at University of Bristol.
