I've always been a social go-getter who thrives in a team. I grew up playing team sports and doing theatre, building critical thinking and team work skills from a young age. The experience of immigration at the age of 15 from Istanbul, Turkey to Montreal, Canada provided me with strong intercultural communication skills which allow me to connect with people of different backgrounds with ease. I am driven by community and culture. It has inspired my creative works, my interest in journalism and how I live my life. I volunteer with the Montreal International Film Festival to this end. As an artist and an avid event go-er I recognize the impact of community found in these spheres and I love to be an active participant in fostering this community. I also volunteer with Kolektif8 as a social media coordinator. They are an NPO helping children and girls in rural Turkey access education opportunities. This is work I'm proud and grateful to be involved in.I've navigated my life through photography, writing and installation projects. In my Communications degree at Concordia I've done a focus in Intermedia which has paved way for the advancement of said creative works.
