I’m an entrepreneurial technology executive with a unique balance of technical and creative abilities. My professional passion is the intersection of technology and the human experience and I believe that the best technologies are transparent as they improve our lives. I always tend to find myself at the front end of major new tech trends. As I like to say, “if it’s fuzzy, I’m on it!” I have deep knowledge of the edge computing stack spanning connectivity, security, manageability, analytics and services, in addition to extensive experience working with end customers in both Operations (OT) and IT organizations across many vertical use cases. My proven track record as a thought leader in the edge and IoT spaces is evident through many speaking engagements, podcasts, blogs and media bylines. I also speak and write regularly on other trends such as AI, Digital Twin and 5G.Prior to joining Nubix as CEO, I was VP of Ecosystem at the edge orchestration startup ZEDEDA. Prior to that I served as Dell Technologies’ CTO for IoT and Edge Computing. In previous roles I have been a CTO strategist, led R&D teams and held various positions in engineering. I hold over 45 granted and pending US patents. My teams have received IoT Breakthrough’s Partner Ecosystem of the Year award in 2020 (ZEDEDA) and both 2018 and 2017 (Dell Technologies). I served as board chair for LF Edge from 2021-2022 and sit on The Channel Company’s IoT Advisory Board. I was ranked in IoT ONE’s Top 100 Industrial IoT Influencers in 2018 and 2019. I firmly believe in the need for standards and openness to realize the true potential of digital. I co-led the formation of the EdgeX Foundry open source project in the Linux Foundation to facilitate interoperability at the IoT edge. EdgeX is now part of LF Edge and is being adopted by developers and end customers worldwide, with over 10 million downloads as of 2022. After launching EdgeX, I led the incubation of Project Alvarium within Dell. The goal of Alvarium is to foster the concept of trust fabrics to deliver data through heterogeneous networks with measurable confidence, ushering in a new era of business models and experiences enabled by interconnected ecosystems. Alvarium is now also a project in LF Edge. In my spare time I like to play music with my band Belldiver in and around Austin, build things from guitars to houses, travel globally, and most of all, spend time with my wife and our three cats.
