As a landscape mobiliser, my main goal is to mobilise, inspire and build trust between farmers, nature conservation organisations and other stakeholders in order to jointly restore landscapes in the Dutch peat meadow landscape and, subsequently, share the results with other farmers in the netwerk. Building trust (for the long term) is a crucial aspect in this. Furthermore, business development and stakeholder management are other key aspects in the role of the landscape mobiliser.

This two-year, research-oriented master, combines earth science with social and economic characteristics to come to optimal management, taking into account changes in both facets. Within this master, I chose the focus on '' Climate and Geo-ecosystems''I did an intern at World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) at the Market Change team in order to investigate the potential link between the Dutch paper and cardboard sector and its adverse impacts on WWF’s priority places in Latin America and elsewhere.

Thesis internship at WNF (6 months): For this master thesis the author investigated, in cooperation with the Market Change team at WWF-NL, the potential link between the Dutch paper and cardboard sector and its adverse impacts on WWF’s priority places in Latin America and elsewhere. WWF has defined 35 priority places in the world which are, according to WWF, especially unique and fragile in terms of biodiversity and human threat. These areas are vitally important for the continuation and wellbeing of the Earth and its people and are places like no other that need the highest level of biodiversity- and ecosystem protection. There are two supply chains that have a potential adverse effect on these priority places. The first is wood pulp from Latin America that is imported by Dutch companies as a virgin fibre for paper and cardboard production. The second is the import of paper products from China, and the associated imports of wood pulp in China from, possibly, unsustainable pulp producers in Russia and Indonesia.
